Welcome In this area you will find general information about using technology and web-based learning techniques in the classroom, as well as specific teaching suggestions and plans to help students at various levels take advantage of the educational potential of this year's Rex Parade. We welcome suggestions and teaching plans submitted by teachers, and will post them in this area as they are received. |

Internet Resources Rex in the Classroom relies heavily on web-based research and learning methods. While the Internet provides wonderful and broad opportunities for student research, teachers should use care in guiding those explorations, as even seemingly harmless searches can lead to unsuitable sites. Myths, often portrayed in
Rex's Parade, may be told in several forms, some of which can be disturbing to younger children.

Louise S. McGehee School students (seen here and in the picture above) use their laptop computers to work on Rex in the Classroom projects. |

Art Projects Each year the Rex Theme has provided inspiration for very creative student art projects based on the images derived from mythology, geography, history,
and depictions of faraway cultures. We would be glad to post your ideas for art projects and lesson plans, as well as examples of student work based on
this year's theme.
Many classrooms have enjoyed designing floats based on the Rex Theme. If you would like to download a Rex in the Classroom Float Design Form for
classroom use please click here. |
