The floats for the 2006 Parade were nearly completed when the Rex den was flooded following Hurricane Katrina, severely damaging the den and all of the floats. The floats were removed from the den, the den was cleaned and repaired, and the floats were rebuilt in time for a beautiful parade on Mardi Gras. This celebration played an important role in the early months of the rebuilding of New Orleans. |
